The American Institute of Architects, founded over 150 years ago, is the largest and most influential professional association for architects, interns and those directly involved with the practice of architecture in the world. Based in Washington D.C, the AIA has over 300 state and local chapters representing over 80,000 members.
The American Institute of Architects Santa Clara Valley Chapter is a non-profit professional association serving over 600 member architects, associates and other industry professionals from over 145 firms. The Chapter, founded in 1950, is an action oriented, responsible organization, and one of the larger and more active chapters in the country, providing professional, social and legislative programs for it's membership, many of which are open to the public.

AIASCV Mission Statement
- The AIASCV serves our members, allied professionals, the community, clients/owners, public agencies, the construction community, our corporate partners, the education community and the friends of architecture.
- The AIASCV provides services through Developing Directorships and Committees for Member Services, Public Awareness, Advocacy, Professional Development and Mentorship of Young Professionals, that create and provide leadership, education, resources, advocacy and networking.

- Among it’s many services the AIASCV provides:
- résumé posting for those seeking employment in the architectural field. To post a résumé, mail or fax a hard copy to the Chapter office. You can also post your information online in PDF format. The online listing is posted for two months.
- job listings for member and non-member firms of available employment opportunities. To advertise a job listing online, e-mail a job description to our webmaster at info@cornerstudio.com. Go to the Ad Posting Instructions page for details on deadlines, cost, and format requirements. Job listings are posted for one month. You can also fax a job opening to be posted in the AIASCV office Job Book.
- referral service is available for the public seeking an architect for particular building types. The AIASCV office will provide you with a list of four architects who do the type of work you require. Call the AIASCV office at 408-298-0611, or fax 408-298-0619, and provide the following information:
- Your name
- Your phone number
- The type of job eg residential, commercial, remodel, etc.,
- An e-mail address or fax number to which the referrals can be sent.
