Basic Membership Category
After numerous discussions at the local, state and national levels, the Membership Recruitment Committee and the Board of the AIASCV Chapter is proud to offer a unique category of membership, called "Basic Membership" aimed at unlicensed professionals. This category recognizes that it is in the long-term interest of the profession and this Chapter to encourage AIA membership for younger professionals, and the cost of membership dues for local, state and national AIA is often a deterrent.
Who is eligible for this unique membership in the AIASCV? Non-licensed individuals working toward licensure.
What are the benefits of the unique Basic Membership? Basic Membership entitles individuals to all benefits offered by the Santa Clara Valley Chapter to its Associate members, including:
- Chapter mailings and the monthly newsletter, TRACINGS
- Monthly Chapter meetings
- A.R.E. study group
- Access to the Licensing Study Center at the Chapter office
(available for $12.00 per hour to non-members) - All professional development and social events
What are the limitations on this unique membership? Membership at this level is good for only three years from the date the application for Basic Membership is received by the Chapter. Annual dues of $89 are to be paid in full at the time the application is submitted. Membership is in the Santa Clara Valley Chapter of the AIA only, therefore it does not include benefits offered by AIA California Council and National AIA, such as Architectural Record magazine, Knowledge Communities (formerly PIAs), discounts on books, seminars, conferences, etc., and use of title Associate AIA.
