BUILDING TECHNOLOGY

Please take a look at the NCARB web site www.ncarb.org/are/exam2_4.html. It contains a list of what NCARB feels you need to review for this part of the exam.

Building Technology is designed to test your skills on the "synthesis of programmatic and environmental requirements into a coherent and aesthetic concept through the process of schematic design."

The test contains 6 vignettes: A Building Section Vignette, a Structural Layout Vignette, an Accessibility-Ramp Vignette, a Mechanical and Electrical Vignette, a Stair Design Vignette, and a Roof Plan Vignette. Please consult your NCARB A.R.E. Guidelines booklet or the link mentioned above at the NCARB web site for the exact description of each vignette. You can also download the A.R.E. Guidelines from the General Info page at this site.
