BUILDING PLANNING

Please take a look at the NCARB web site www.ncarb.org/are/exam2_3.html. It contains a list of what NCARB feels you need to review for this part of the exam.

Building Planning is designed to test your skills on the “synthesis of programmatic and environmental requirements into a coherent and aesthetic concept through the process of schematic design." The test is contains 3 vignettes: A Block Diagram Vignette, an Interior Layout Vignette, and a Schematic Design Vignette. Please consult your NCARB A.R.E. Guidelines booklet or the link mentioned above at the NCARB web site for the exact description of each vignette. You can also download the A.R.E. Guidelines from the General Info page at that site.
