The Chapter’s committees are the backbone of our organization.  When you join committees, your perspectives and actions help to identify issues and develop positions on issues important to both the profession and our members.  Our Chapter work affects professional architectural practice and the image of architects while also serving the public.

ADVOCACY

Architecture 101
Promotes and organizes seminars to give public design review agencies and non-architects a basic architectural curriculum about vocabulary, concepts and design.

Design Awards Committee
Organizes and manages all Chapter design award competitions.

Emergency Preparedness Committee
Serves as resource center and coordinator of Chapter volunteers to be trained and assist as needed during and after disasters occur.

Public Relations Committee
Furnished information to the news media concerning Chapter activities and publicizes Chapter members and events.  Provides a resource of Chapter members to speak publicly on architecturally related subjects.  Coordinates and arranges for displays in the Chapter office.

TRACINGS Newsletter Committee
Edits and organizes publishing of the monthly newsletter of the Chapter for purpose of informing Chapter members of upcoming meetings, professional seminars, Chapter and AIA activities and other items of interest.

Voice of the AIA Committee
Organizes and manages opportuinities to voice the AIA position on issues of importance to the Built Environment.  Includes enhancing the relationship between the architectural profession and government agencies, furnishing info to news media and speaking publicly.

MEMBER VALUE

Associates & Emerging Professionals Committee
Provides a forum for associates to cross-communicate with practicing architects and to train and transition effectively into the profession.  Assists in preparation for the California State Licensing Exams.

Continuing Education Committee
Organizes and monitors continuing education programs/seminars aimed at specific needs of the membership to enhance members' professional abilities and further their careers.

Membership Committee
The goal is to promote and maintain membership in the AIA Santa Clara Valley Chapter.  Creates, organizes and manages programs to promote, encourage and recruit members to Chapter committee and activity involvement.

Programs Committee
Organizes and manages monthly meeting programs with topics and locations based on the interestes of a majority of our Chapter members.

OPTIMIZE ORGANIZATION

Corporate Partners Committee
Promotes and organizes the membership of and activities with selected allied professionals to foster greater interaction between them and our architect members.

Non-Dues Revenue/Finance Committee
Organizes and conducts fundraising activities and enlists support in order to raise money to support Chapter activities.

Researches and provides information and support enabling Chapter Office and Website to be up to date with latest technology for information exchange with members and the public.

COTE (Committee on the Environment)
Promotes stewardship of the environment as a role of the Architect and provides to the membership and the public information, expertise, education and networking on green building and sustainable design practices.

Fellows Committee
Aids in the selection of appropriate Chapter members for advancement to fellowship according to criteria established by AIA.
