The American Institute of Architects is the voice of the architectural profession and the resource for its members in service to society. We welcome you to join AIASCV and become a part of the largest organization representing architects and the architectural profession. The AIA is a three-tiered organization, when you join as an Architect or Associate you will become a member of all three levels - Local, State, and National. Select from the categories below to become a member today!
**All first-time architect, associate, and international associate members who join and lapsed members (5 years or more) who rejoin the AIA between May 3, 2009, and June 12, 2010, receive a free registration to the AIA 2010 National Convention and Design Exposition in Miami free of charge.**
Architect Member
Individuals currently licensed to practice architecture from a U.S. State or Territory.

- Dues: $130 (Local) + $49.50 (State) + $122 (National) = $301.50
- A copy of your current architecture license is required for complete processing.
- Payment for total amount must accompany your application.

Emeritus Architect Member
An AIA member for 15 successive years and 65 years of age, or incapacitated so as to be unable to work within the profession.
This membership is free but if you would like to continue to receive mailings, there is a subscription fee of $45.00.

Associate AIA membership is open to individuals not licensed to practice architecture but who meet one of the following criteria:
1. Have a Professional degree in architecture
2. Currently work under the supervision of an architect
3. Participate in career responsibilities recognized by licensing authorities as constituting credit toward licensure (i.e. interns)
4. Faculty member in a university program in architecture

Individuals who hold an architecture license or equivalent from a non-U.S. licensing authority, but do not hold a U.S. architectural license.

Open to individuals working in fields related to the practice of architecture. Anyone who has an interest and supports the local architects and the field of architecture. This is a local only membership, State and National memberships are available but you must contact AIACC and AIA directly.

AIASCV created a unique category of membership aimed at unlicensed professionals. This category recognizes that it is in the long-term interest of the profession and this Chapter to encourage AIA membership for younger professionals, and the cost of membership dues is often a deterrent.

Non-licensed individuals working toward licensure qualify for a Basic Membership but are limited to three year duration from date of application

Individuals interested in architecture but who have no financial involvement in the practice of architecture or in the design or construction industry. Examples would be public employees such as planners and building department members.

If you are currently a member at another chapter, but AIA Santa Clara Valley Chapter would be a better fit for you, yu can trasfer your chapter membership. Membership is based on your home or work address, so either address must be located in Santa Clara County.
